Front Air Deflector Equipment
The first two stations of the air deflector equipment are entirely manual for creating the subassembly. The operator applies two foam strips to the part. Fixed aluminum locators and positioning devices are used to hold the part during assembly in the first station. The first station does not include any electrical or pneumatic devices; it is simply an assembly aid. The second station is used to manually install the subassembly from the first station to the second station. It is also a completely manual station that uses fixed aluminum locators and positioning devices as well as manual hand clamps to hold the part in position during assembly. The third station is semi-automated, installing four metal clips and pressing the foam strips from the first station onto the part. This station also performs several quality checks like checking for proper part size and proper clip installation. Pneumatic cylinders actuate the tooling and press cylinders. Photo eyes and proximity sensors perform quality checks. A PLC, HMI, and light curtains are used to control the station.
