Oil Filter Assembly
The oil filter assembly project consists of several different stations integrated into an existing conveyor line. The purpose of the project was to assemble the inner portion of oil filters by placing the paper core into the metal cap and bottom that contained pre-applied adhesive. Koops duplicated each of the three stations required to assemble the filters. A Fanuc 4-axis spider robot picks and places the paper assemblies into the caps. Second, the accumulating section controls the flow of filters into the third station. The third station also uses a Fanuc 4-axis spider robot to pick and place the filter and cap assembly into the bottom portion of the filters. The system is very high speed, running one part per lane every .7 seconds. Fanuc’s integrated vision and line tracking software allows parts to be assembled without ever stopping the conveyors.
